2017 marked the NEW MUSEUM 40th anniversary. That's a 40 year history of challenging the role of a cultural institution, doing the things no museum dares to do, and pursuing what they call "new art and new ideas."
To celebrate this steadfast commitment to new art and new ideas, we did what no museum has done before—we launched New Museum LIVE: five exhibitions, hundreds of artworks, special events and performances, all live streamed online and in locations around New York City.
The activation lasted one month and celebrated every single artwork in the museum, providing all of them with their very own live stream. Viewers could switch through the live streams online, or see them broadcast live in locations around the city, such as a billboard in Times Square, the IFC Center, the NYC Ferry, in the Subway, and many more restaurants, cafes, hotels, theaters, and galleries downtown.
